One Winter part 2

Yesterdays post was about the beginning adventure, our plan of having a baby in Mexico. A planned goal becoming a reality. I was pregnant and were preparing for the long trip ahead. The second installment in welcoming the new one!

We have been working and planning to have a baby in Mexico in the beginning. We wanted our first born to be born there, it did not work out. The second time, still did not work out, so this is it. Boy or girl I said, this is it. Third time and it's a girl, what could be better! But we still have to get down to Mexico.
It was snowing, 3 to 4 inches on the ground and was cold wet and just plain miserable! The hubby was outside working his bones out. He was packing now for a week and making it all nice and comfortable for me and for everyone in this adventure. I was having contraction all week and was just plain pissy and nervous that we will not make it, and can have this baby anytime. So, I went out to where he was on our driveway working, it was dark and I was having lots of pain and plow through the snow and I said " Fran, I am having pain lots of pain and if you want this baby to be born in Mexico, I want to leave tomorrow or we will not live at all! IN no uncertain term! I told him! By God!

I remember the look of my poor wet cold and so tired looking husband, said OK! He switch gear and pack our Toyota Tercel station wagon all night and all day. A space for me with so much pillows around in the front set. A dog cage with the dog (Ahab) in between the two boys set in the back. He load the car full with stuff  all the way that touches the roof, so as the kids head touches the roof. We had a bike rack on the back with two bikes a roof top carriage and stuff bungee cord all over the place. I was fat and grumpy and I was in pain. I was so nervous that I will not be able to hold the baby in side. I had this vision that when the labor starts going, she will just come out!. And that will be it. No Mexico baby... After all was packed, we rolled on out of the property with one crucial stop to a friend doctor and his wife and was briefed, on some emergency delivery. What to have? A thermos full of hot water, stainless steel basin, dental floss and a scissors. We are set for the emergency delivery on the road. We said our goodbyes and we set off..
this was our load as we set off
