One Winter

This story is about getting ready to have a princess in the family. The months was June, weeks after returning back from our Aticama hilltop camp that year. The year 2003 the news, I am having a baby! I was pregnant for  a few weeks already. So the plan begins..
A goal to have a baby in Mexico is finally coming to a reality. A planned summer to work as plenty and as hard as we can to make the money, we need to be comfortable enough to be gone for at least 3 months for the coming winter. All  projects at home was put to a halt and concentrate to work outside the home. The hubby hunt for the right vehicle to travel in begun.  He acquired an aluminum trailer tent and Isuzu trooper to pull it away. A few renovation here and there for the trailer and  and the basic check for the vehicle to ride on the road and we all be set. The plan was to give birth in Aticama in our hilltop home.
I had done two labor and delivery before with my two boys-which was normal  and both went pretty easy for me.. I said to myself, I know my body and I know I can take the pain pretty good. I deliver my first boy,one hour and 15 minuets  .and my  2nd son's delivery was 45 minutes so I thought  this one will be a piece of cake. The hubby also thought a nice comfortable space to have a baby for the wifey, a collapsible trailer. We already have a friend Doctor in Sta Cruz who will do the assisting in the delivery process. So we both thought all was well.
It was a great year, there was lots of work and the fiances looks like will be met for the travel, and some extra. But the time spent for getting things ready for the trip was getting less. I was getting fat and pregnant working on and off in six months. But I am not a mechanic or a carpenter to do the necessary work needs to be done to make our vehicle all road worthy. It is a long road away to Aticama. Fall came still working, then the winter came. At the time, we were living inside our 26 feet 1974 Dodge Travco. Which is now sadly crushed by a giant willow tree. It was nice and comfy inside. I had everything I need, a giant bathroom for a short pregnant woman! December rolls along and I remember the hubby trying to work as much he can to pack by himself in a nasty weather. Holiday came and went and we are still in Portland. January 18, came my last prenatal visit to the doctor was done. The news, I was 3 centimeter dilated. My due date was February 18. The doctor announce that I am in the early stage of labor. But as long as my water is not broken, the pregnancy can go on until due date if I choose to. Now the pressure is on. Big time.

  1. Whew...did your Doctor know you were going to make that long trip to mexico at that point? You sure were brave to make that trip so close to delivering! Can't wait for "the rest of the story"!!!
