For years in my married life I have never felt like I need a cell phone. And just like me not needing to drive. The hubby and I discuss many many things that we agree and thought that I have no need in my life living here in the US, like driving a vehicle, but to learn and know how is very important for emergency. And that was a very sound reason for me. As long as he was around he will drive me and the family to places where we should be. That was then!
Kids were getting big and we started to work together. A cell phone is needed for the work we do. He gets one, for he runs a few crew and communication is a must that was when the economy is booming and there were load of work for construction 10 years ago.
Now, with the the economy is straggling and hardly any work the hubby is venturing to a new avenue of work and income to support the family. And that is where we are now at present. A Jackfruit farm in Aticama is where he is now busily tending along with his business partners. Two weeks is what he planned to be away but now turning into 3. That brings us back to the cell phone.
I anticipated this delayed that hubby always do when away. Even when all of us were in Mexico we are not on time. Something always comes up and we deal with it. So I decided with the help of Lola Ruth that a cell phone is a good idea to have while hubby is away. A prepaid cell which is intended only for important calls and emergency situations. I hesitated for a long time, like many other things that I have no need for, I thought! But things change and I have to adjust and learn. There are so many things in life I have to be open about and learn to accept. I miss the hubby, and never in my mind before to think that we have to be apart in order to survive.

ReplyDeletethey do come in handy :)
ReplyDeleteThey are good insurance in an emergency!
ReplyDeleteNever wanted one till a few years ago...late at night driving by myself 10 miles from home and the car broke down...live way out in the country...no street lights and no one on the road.
Weng,
ReplyDeleteI just got a cell phone too! Not a fancy one like yours. Just a plain cheapo Telcel phone. And it is coming in handy too.
I signed up with a company called Rebtel, and now can make calls from Mexico to the USA for 1.5 cents per minute!
Tu amigo,
Jorge
