One Winter part 5

Yesterdays post shares of the adventure of  how all Mexicans we met on the travel thought of how crazy the idea that we were about to do. Having a baby in Mexico. Where us many, runs for North to the US border. But not us, we had our papers and we were all legal and ready. With our mattress as our sail with the rest of  stuff we had, nothing can stop now...

We rolled into Aticama just about sun set. We stop at a friend house who was so happy to accommodate  us for a few days.We set out our tent on top of the mattress and it fit just perfect and we have a comfy bed under the stars, until we get our camp situated! I was still fat but happy, I am finally there. Then the work begun.
I visit every friend I know and have and showed off my fat belly and told of our plan. Everyone was happy but deep inside was a big skeptic about me having the birth itself of my baby in our palapa palace! My palapa (tache roof) which was the hill top home now, but the hubby prefer to call our home the Bird house!
But anyway, hubby and our family in Aticama busting their backs to give me a roof and nice comfy house to have the baby. It was all made of palm fronds, the hubby has a better version on how the house came to play in this stage... LOL!  All I had in mind was the pain and the labor.

I visited the village clinic to get and idea how much I dilated on the trip. A 2 centimeter increase, now with five still able to walk and talk. I walk all over the town and every one has a smile on their faces. They could not believe that I am doing this. Some suggested that I should be in hospital. The more days I was there and still walking the more comfortable the baby inside my belly, she seemed not wanting to come out. The contraction was bearable but more and more people start talking about the "what ifs" which was normal and they were concern and care about me. So after almost two weeks walking like a duck in the village I gave in to go and have the baby in Tepic at the general Hospital in the city. After the last visit to the village clinic, with a 24 year old male doctor, who check my dilation (he was good looking too.) He suggested I go to the hospital. But he was under pressure from all my friend who came with me in the clinic, I knew  he was nervous that and made the reading wrong! Eight centimeter. So I went up the hill and gather what I needed! We made arrangement to bring everyone with Juana to watch the boys while I am in the hospital. The for help before the baby and after the baby was born. She and a Mother like and a great family Friend Alicia who is now godmother to both my boys. We piled in our station wagon, our trusty, zippy hard working Toyota which had thousands of miles abuse of loads in her (Goldy) was her name and we in it went off to have the my baby in Tepic..

  1. Weng...I do not know how citizenship works...so does Kawena have dual citizenship, US and Mexico ? How cool would that be! Or does she just have Mexican citizenship?
So many questions... What part of the "Bird House" is the Hill top House? The picture above looks so different from the hilltop house.
Hope you enjoyed you night out with Hubby and you are feeling well.
