Foreigners

In the Philippines most kids and adults are not shy to speak of little English words they might know or have. We always say something that was not pronounce right to anyone who we think speaks English! And it is funny because, I for once in my life believe that all foreigners of white skin are called (KANO) meaning AmiraKANO/American! But then all human with white skin we see in the Philippines we call that name and even now I believe. We do not know or maybe we do not care what the distinction or the difference is? I don't know? But, I have tried to explained to my family the differences because I know for a fact that there are Englishmen from England and or Canadians and or Germans gets offended when called KANO.

My first time mingling with foreigners was during our Island hopping honeymoon in the summer of 1994. I was always shy back then. As you can Imagine I am only 4 foot 11 inches and talking to big tall people, I felt intimated. And my English was limited I felt, so I did not talk much. And being with the hubby who loves to talk I felt out of place and scared at times. And not to mention a penpal bride (mail order bride) which in some cases gets to be looked down by locals, but not all. And for most foreigners it was exciting to them to know the fact of how we met. But I could never catch up with the conversation. I just ended up sitting with the a very happy husband telling our love story, smiling the biggest smile my face could  provide to show. I feel the lucky one for the right reason, I fall in Love with this man who is talking so fast about our love. We we were there on our Honeymoon, and we get free drinks too. Although, I was not an alcohol drinker before my marriage, I did try. But as what I know now, if beer was serve in the Philippines it was fine for it taste just like water with flavor as the hubby described to me many times before. But I always get drunk and feel sleepy after I had one. I did not like it. The hubby preferred beer than top water for many reasons which I was not aware and know then..
We went to bars and dance all night long right on the beach during our honeymoon. My first time on a tourist Island spot in my life. A beach so white, food of many cultures. New taste and new experinces and so many people of all walks and colors of life from all over the world were there. Either enjoying a vacation or a traveler from Amsterdam, England, Australia, Germany, India, America, Austria, Switzerland and many more. I was so excited and so very happy.I was with no doubt one day will be able to meet more of them alike in my life and be able to speak with no hesitation, one day! And here I am now, talking and sharing my story to the world. I fall in love! And what a feeling.
